1:3:3 Method of Productivity
Here’s how you are going to increase your focus and productivity this week!
First off… erase everything off of your plate and start fresh
You could easily be overwhelmed by the many tasks and priorities that you need to take care of, but you’re not going to get overwhelmed today. Take a deep breath, relax for just a moment, and start with a clean slate. Grab an empty notepad or open your notes app to a new sheet. Whatever tool you use, don’t start by looking at 100+ past due tasks or projects.
1.List your ONE BIG TASK that you absolutely have to get done today.
No, you may not have two or three big tasks. You get one. Why? Because you will accomplish that one task today to it’s full completion. It will not get carried over to tomorrow or next week.
2. List out three small tasks.
We’re talking about something that will take you less than 15 minutes to complete. Do not trick yourself into thinking that you can put your other big tasks here. The goal is to complete tasks
3. List out three maintenance tasks.
These are meant to be simple things that you can do with minimal effort. Something you do on a regular basis.
4. Write out your schedule.
Put down every event that you need to do and the time with it for today.
5.Write out notes
This will come in handy as you go about your day today. Keep all of your notes for the day down here for you to process and organize at the end of the day.
BONUS:
Block off the last 30 minutes of todays workday to:
REVIEW TODAY
Move any of todays tasks that were not able to be completed to tomorrow. I know, I said we would get them all done, but you’re not perfect and that’s okay.
Look at any tasks that you did today that will be repeated in the future. Either delegate them to someone else if you can, partially automate the task by setting it up as a reminder in the future, or see if there’s a way to eliminate it altogether!
Look through your schedule and make adjustments if some items took longer or shorter, some are a waste of time, and how you can make overall improvements moving forward.
Review your notes to add tasks to tomorrow, send emails, or other action items.
BUILD TOMORROW
Follow the steps above the day before. Don’t wait until the morning to map out your day, pre-plan your entire day ahead of time!
